ABOUT
Mathias Reis
is a visual artist, photographer and university professor interested in sustainable solutions in the application of emerging techniques and technologies. He works with different techniques with an emphasis on photography, performance, audiovisual and music. His poetic investigation seeks to dialogue with the environment as an active subject in the construction of artistic narratives. He is currently a PhD candidate in Arts at Unesp where he is part of the research groups N'Me (Center for research methodologies in the arts) and Paisagens Colonizados (UFES), as well as the international group of artists Broken Forest. Graduated in Arts (emphasis in Design), with a master's degree in Language, Media and Art from PUC-Campinas and a PhD in Arts in progress from UNESP. He has experience in exhibitions, artistic occupations and two solo exhibitions, the first entitled Exsicata at Galeria Sede (2015) and the second, Variações do Pé Vermelho (2018), at AT AL | 609. In 2021, I held my first international artistic residency with the exhibition of my photographs at the Tribu gallery in Montevideo (UY). He also has experience as a curator and art critic in museums, artistic residencies and exhibitions. His current research is focused on understanding how the environment and landscape can play a role in sustainability and people's well-being, considering them central elements to current issues in the field of creation and education.
